Alicia Baca
Alicia serves as the Outreach Coordinator at the Center for Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies. She holds a B.A. in Russian Studies and Humanities, with a minor in Nordic Studies (2014), and an M.A. in Russian Studies (2018) from the University of Colorado Boulder. Prior to graduate school, she managed student employees and resources at CU Boulder's Anderson Language and Technology Center. As a graduate teaching assistant, she co-taught and designed courses on Norse mythology and J.R.R. Tolkien’s Nordic influences, supported by a 2017 Title VIII fellowship to study in St. Petersburg, Russia. Her research interests include human rights in Eastern Europe, music and politics, Nordic and Slavic folklore, and how extremist movements misappropriate cultural heritage and traditional music for recruitment.
