Danielle Schoon
Danielle Schoon is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the Department of Sociology at The Ohio State University. She teaches undergraduate courses in immigration and technology and society, and a graduate seminar in pedagogy. Her teaching is guided by the principles of evidence-based pedagogy, civil discourse, and global learning. Dr. Schoon holds a dual Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology and Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Arizona and an M.A. in Dance Studies from UCLA. She conducted ethnographic research in Turkey as a Fulbright Fellow in 2011-2012. Her interdisciplinary training in the social sciences continues to shape her teaching and scholarship. Her scholarly work has been published in journals and edited volumes spanning anthropology, migration studies, and Middle East studies. She also writes literary nonfiction, with work appearing in The Common and Bradt Guides. Across both her scholarly and literary writing, she is interested in place, memory, mobility, and cross-cultural experience.
